St. Francis Medical Center Leads the Fight Against Breast Cancer

Time is critical in treating breast cancer‚ and St. Francis Medical Center is doing its utmost to see that no seconds are wasted.
In June 2006‚ the hospital opened the Kitty DeGree Breast Health Center‚ a facility that delivers state-of-the-art care in a single Northeast Louisiana location. Now patients don’t need to drive all over town‚ or outside of the region‚ to find the most comprehensive care available.
“Our goal has been to compress the time‚” says Pam Bratton‚ director of the center‚ which was named after a local philanthropist.
The center is achieving the desired time compression through the use of centralized schedulers‚ on-site radiolo gists and drive-through service.
It also maintains the most up-to-date technology‚ including high definition breast MRIs‚ ultrasound and MRI-guided biopsies and the region’s first digital mammography. Separate waiting rooms‚ resource centers and treatment clinics are also part of the package at the Kitty DeGree Breast Health Center.
“The atmosphere is very warm‚” Bratton says.
