There is quality medical care for all uninsured children and youth up to the age of 19 in Ouachita Parish.
LaCHIP (Louisiana Children’s Health Insurance Program) is a statewide initiative that provides Medicaid coverage for primary care doctor visits as well as preventive and emergency care‚ immunizations‚ prescription medications‚ hospitalization and home health care. To qualify‚ a family’s income cannot be more than 200 percent of the federal poverty level‚ which in 2007 was $41‚304 annually for a family of four.
